I cannot put into words well enough, what Jim, and Pat, have meant to me. Jim, was more than a friend... he was a guiding, mentoring, helping hand. I met Jim 45 years ago. He taught me to fly when I was 14/15 years old. He encouraged my Air Force career. He coached me in appraisal work. He was a role model in many ways. Most of all he was a genuine caring friend who was always there. We, including our wives, spent great memories together. My heart hurts for his loss, but I am glad to have had the time with him... knowing his life and legacy.... seeing his smile and hearing his laugh will live forever with me. Every time I fly I think of him and hear his encouragement.
My deepest sympathy goes out to Pat, Jeff, Julie and kids, and all the friends I know will have a void that words cannot fill, but know, Jim is there..an Angel smiling on all of us.

Years ago my two sons were selling sweet corn at my folks home on Main Street. They maybe had 5-8 ears of corn but they were so proud. They wore 'good shirts' (shirts with collars) and they held signs. Mr. Mitchell stopped and bought their corn and chatted with them for a bit. I think they were still smiling days after their sale. Thank you to this kind gentleman who made two little boys feel so important. They are now 20 and almost 19 and still remember this man. So very sorry for your loss.

I'm not sure I have the words to express what this man meant to me. 35 yrs ago Jim and Pat convinced me to get my real estate license. Jim was my mentor as well as my dear friend. Jim had a wealth of knowledge to share with many. I for one will miss this man. My deepest sympathy goes out to my friend Pat and son Jeff.
