Daniel W. Kinney, 24, of Springfield, formerly of Elmwood, passed away at 1:22 a.m., on Monday, March 16, 2021, in Springfield, IL.
He was born in Springfield and came to live in Elmwood after being adopted and raised by John and Elizabeth "Beth" (Martin) Kinney. They survive.
He is also survived by one brother, Michael Kinney; two aunts, Kandice Guppy and Sarah Cox; four special cousins, Patrick, Thomas, Abigail, and Nathan Cox; and many more aunts and uncles.
Daniel loved playing and watching sports with his dad, John. He spoke last to his dad on Monday morning to talk about the Illini basketball game on Sunday. Daniel always seemed like a lost soul. Maybe now he can find peace.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

God bless his little soul.
Daniel was always a good friend of mine. He had the best sense of humor and could cheer anybody up instantly. I’ll always have good memories of running around Elmwood with Daniel. I hope he can find peace and I’ll continue to pray for his family.
I didn’t know him,but I read his obituary and I’m very sorry for his loss.
I do know some friends of various ages who have died last year and most recently and they were also viewed as “lost Souls”.
This pandemic is still very sad for many people and I’m very sad for his family and friends loss on their beloved loved one.

He had a beautiful soul this one really was a shocking I was very greatful to meet his parents and brother. I know he had his struggles but now he can rest peacefully. My prayer are there for his whole family!!
I never attended school at Elmwood, however, I did play football with Daniel. Him and I weren’t the closest of friends outside of football but he was nice to me and was able to make everyone laugh. I’m truly sorry to hear about this and I give my condolences and prayers to his family and friends.
