Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton was established in 1969 by founder Darren Oaks. Darren was a lifelong Fulton County native and proudly served this community for 16 years until his retirement. Maurie Hines then purchased the funeral home from Darren and continued the local involvement in the community and serving families in Canton and surrounding communities. Maurie’s son, Steve Hines, joined the funeral home in 1990. After Maurie’s retirement Steve purchased the business and has continued the philosophy of serving the family the founders have established. In 2015, Steve’s son, Sam, joined the funeral home and has made us a 3 generation family run funeral home.
Daryl Schrodt, a Canton native also serves the families at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home as a funeral director and embalmer and is proud to be part of a caring and compassionate funeral home.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood was originally the Patterson Funeral Home and was founded by Mr. Patterson in the 1940s. The Patterson family lived and worked out of the current location raising their children there on the 2nd floor and the funeral business on the 1st floor. This was common practice in the day and brought many community memories of the funeral home. When Mr. Patterson retired, his son, Bob Patterson, ran the family business until his retirement in 2006. Steve Hines bought the funeral home and has added the local staff of Debbie Rushing-Glenn. She is an Elmwood native and has well established herself in the community.
